Sparkle, Gilding and Magnolia….
Some homes make my job as a Holiday Designer easy due to the existing beauty of the home. This is one of those homes! Nestled into a quiet neighborhood in the hills of Tennessee, this home comes alive at Christmas with simple and elegant brushes of sparkle, touches of gilding, and the quintessential southern accent, Magnolia.
Beginning at the large magnolia and pine wreaths on the front doors and walking into the formal living room, you are transported into a holiday reminiscent of the golden days of old. The living room’s beautiful, architectural arched mirror is shining with a suspended magnolia wreath, layers of greenery, and a bejeweled golden runner to complete the look. In the mantle greenery, gilded magnolia leaves and burgundy ornaments are tucked in to add holiday sparkle. Gold wire bows are tied onto the sconces to tie the entire look together and the mantle becomes the star of the show in this beautiful room.
Walk on down the hall and you arrive at the formal dining room where a bamboo wallpaper and trellis trim set the stage for a sage and champagne look that showcases the homeowners collection of heirloom silver beautifully. Simple greenery sets the base while layers of mercury glass, candlesticks, florals and treasured family ornaments come together to create a beautiful and sparkling centerpiece to adorn this gathering room.
On down the hall you come to a side table accented with a naturally themed table-scape fitting to the nature-themed painting. A trophy bowl filled with pine cones, two faux-ceder picks and a few coordinated accessories make this hall table a perfect transition from the previous formal rooms, into the more casual, family room.
The family room exudes a warm and welcoming vibe with the use of browns, greens, and creams as the base, and a sprinkling of gold and burgundy throughout to tie into the rest of the homes decor.
Trumpeting angels anchor either side of the mantle with another touch of a more rustic magnolia garland softening the mantle. The family Christmas tree is decorated in a woodland theme complete with deer, antlers, and acorns. The sage, cream, and persimmon palette keeps the look airy and not overly dark. palette keeps the tree bright and not too dark.
A silver bowl adorns an end table and adds just the right touch of elegance to the family-friendly living space. Gilded magnolia leaves leftover from the formal living room tie the rooms together while the natural greenery keeps the look casual enough for the family room.
On your way out be sure to thank the hosts for their warm southern hospitality and for opening the doors of their Traditionally elegant home for the Holidays!
